Congress created the SBDC Program in 1980 to provide small business owners with a free resource for management, technical and research assistance needed to aid the start-up, expansion and successful operation of their businesses. The program has realized phenomenal growth to become a network of nearly 1,000 SBDC locations.

The program’s strength is its experience in tailoring services to meet the changing needs of the small business community; the adaptability and flexibility of its program structure to respond to those needs; and an infrastructure and network designed to communicate directly with individual businesses and known to be oriented to small business interest.

The SBDC program meets the counseling and training needs of over 685,000 clients annually.
 

Provides management and technical assistance to more than 1.3 million small businesses an aspiring entrepreneurs each year.
 

A new business is opened by an SBDC client every 33minutes
 

A new job is created in the U.S. by an SBDC in-depth client every 7 minutes.
 

$100,000 in new sales are generated by SBDC in-depth clients every 9 minutes.
 

$100,000 in financing is obtained by SBDC in-dept clients every 20 minutes.
